Third Way’s Human Resources Department is seeking a Human Resources Generalist to join the team. This team member will support a wide range of HR tasks with the goal of ensuring that the HR department’s operations run smoothly and effectively to deliver maximum value to the organization and staff as a whole.

This role will function in a variety of capacities throughout our human resources department including the opportunity to participate in recruiting, performing tasks with a focus to grow our company’s talent pipeline, improve our sourcing tactics, coordinating onboarding initiatives, open enrollment, and supporting with all Human Resources inquiries and general tasks. You will have the opportunity to increase your knowledge in all things Human Resources, strengthen valuable skills like communication, public speaking and decision-making, and strategic thinking. This position will report to the Director of Human Resources. 


As the Human Resources Generalist, a typical day might include…

  • Assist with recruitment by assisting supervisors with managing job postings, identifying candidates, coordinating interviews, conducting reference checks, and creating employment contracts.

  • Perform orientations, onboarding of all new employees and interns, ensuring staff experience a positive welcome and strong support.

  • Assist with all internal and external HR related inquiries or requests.

  • Maintain records of personnel-related data (payroll, personal information, leaves, turnover rates etc.) and ensure all employment requirements are met.

  • Prepare and produce reports on general HR activity and relevant metrics.

  • Suggest ideas to motivate employees with wellness events and programs.

  • Manage the HR calendar by scheduling meetings, HR events etc. and maintain the team’s agenda.

  • Assist in implementation, collection, and organization of employee feedback from surveys.

  • Participate and support in developing organizational guidelines and procedures.

  • Keep up to date with the latest HR trends and best practices.

  • Performing other duties as assigned.

Salary Range: $65,000 - $80,000, annually

At Third Way, we are committed to fair and equitable pay practices. The final starting salary offer will be determined based on your experience and qualifications.

Job requirements

This might be the job for you, if you have…

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related degree

  • 2-3 years’ experience in Human Resources coordination, administration or relevant field.

  • Good judgment and demonstrated ability to engage with a wide variety of stakeholders and partners in a diverse environment.

  • Ability to clearly write and communicate content and information to a wide array of individuals from all levels.

  • Participate in Third Way’s comprehensive onboarding program where you'll learn about all aspects of Business Operations incl. HR, Learning & Development, IT, Office of the President, Finance & Grants, and Office Operations.

  • Be introduced to your Third Way Buddy, meet the entire TW team, and start to experience TW's culture.

  • Participate in weekly one-on-ones with your manager, to ensure you fully understand the expectations of the job.

  • Attend the Business Operations Team's weekly team meetings. You’ll learn about the key goals of your department, how they’re doing, what challenges they face, and how you will contribute.

  • Learn about our current HR processes and begin to envision how best to enhance them.

WITHIN 2 MONTHS, YOU'LL...

  • Have an opportunity to learn more about how each program, department, and team contributes to TW’s mission.

  • Participate in at least one of our internal Professional Development trainings.

  • Learn and continue to get familiar with our HRIS system, Paylocity and Monday.com.

  • Learn and experience TW’s commitment to diversity, inclusion, and respect in the workplace.

  • Be actively involved in expanding your knowledge as you become familiar with the existing HR resources, documentation, and administrator tools.

  • Gain responsibility for phone screening for jr. level positions. 

WITHIN 3 MONTHS, YOU'LL…

  • Feel a sense of comfort and familiarity with the staff, the Business Operations team, and your work.

  • Continue to attend weekly team meetings, now with a stronger understanding of your team’s strategic goal.

  • Be comfortable working with Paylocity and Monday.com for HR administration and project management.

  • Complete your 90-day self-evaluation and performance review with your manager.

  • Bring new ideas and suggestions to your weekly one-on-ones with your manager.

  • Partner with your manager to establish your long-term goals for the remainder of the year.
