Third Way is partnering for this position with the New Democrat Coalition, an official Congressional Member Organization of the U.S. House of Representatives. The Coalition is the home for Center-Left Democrats in the House, with over 100 members working to advance innovative, inclusive, and forward-looking policies. New Dems work to bridge the partisan divide with a solutions-oriented approach to politics.
Third Way is seeking to hire a Congressional Fellow to start with the beginning of the 119th Congress (January 2025) who will be placed on the staff of the New Democrat Coalition in the U.S. House of Representatives. The fellow will report directly to New Dem communications staff and help support the Coalition’s media efforts, inclusive of traditional press and digital. The fellowship is designed to give early-career staffers the chance to work on Capitol Hill with a vibrant and growing caucus operation to gain valuable experience, build networks, and learn how the Hill functions. The fellowship will be for a 1-year period from the start date.
Duties
- Support and assist with implementation of the NDC’s communications plan for the 119th Congress.
- Work closely with the NDC communications team to create graphics, photos, and video content for website and various social platforms.
- Draft press releases, advisories, statements, quotes, and other written materials.
- Draft and disseminate messaging and other communications resources for NDC member offices.
- Compile press clips and monitor for NDC news.
- Organize and staff press conferences and other public events.
- Participate in periodic check-in sessions with Third Way staff and complete exit memo upon completion of the fellowship.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Job requirements

- Bachelor’s degree in political science, Communications, Public Policy, or related fields
- Passion for pragmatic, bipartisan policy development and implementation
- Strong writing and communications skills
- Ability to work under pressure, prioritize, and adhere to strict deadlines.
- Passion for the mission of the New Democrat Coalition
- Prior Capitol Hill and/or other political experience
*Applicants must live in, or be willing to relocate to Washington, D.C. for the duration of the fellowship

Salary Range: $60,000 - $65,000 annually
